KEENE, NH, November 3, 2015 – Precitech, a global manufacturer of innovative ultra precision
machining solutions, announces the addition of DIFFSYS®. DIFFSYS is a computer aided
machining (CAM) software which was first released in 2000 and has since become a global leader.
It is recognized and recommended worldwide by the leading manufacturers of ultra-precision
machines for generating optical surfaces.
“Thank you to all those who have purchased and supported DIFFSYS,” states Alan Edwards,
owner of DIFFSYS. “In particular, thanks to those of you who have stuck with me and encouraged
me over the years with your tricky problems and suggestions for improvement. It was young Gildo
at Precitech who originally suggested the idea, and now, 16 years later and many late nights
programming, I am very happy to have come to an agreement with the guys at Precitech, who
I can trust to look after the program and develop it further.”
“I have had the pleasure of working with Alan Edwards for many years,” notes Dr. Jeff Roblee,
Vice President of Technology, “and I am looking forward to the development of many new
product enhancements.”
Since its inception in 2000, DIFFSYS has focused on the efficient generation of tool path programs
for the creation of optical surfaces on ultra precision, diamond turning machines. These surfaces
can be defined by optical design equations or by a cloud of points. As diamond turning machines
have become more mainstream, customers are interested in making a greater variety of surfaces.
This is driving the need to have tighter integration between CAD and CAM systems
“Part of the strategy behind this important addition is to allow Precitech to continue the
innovation started by Alan,” says Dan Lawrence, Business Unit Manager of TMC Precitech.
“Our customers want solutions that allow them to more efficiently create programs for their
diamond turning machines. By having DIFFSYS® as part of our software product line we
will be able satisfy their needs.”
DIFFSYS outputs files in many different formats that are compatible with most commercially
available diamond turning machines. The strengths of DIFFSYS include ease of use, clear
graphics, comprehensive tool corrections, and excellent technical support.
“DIFFSYS is recognized as a global leader in CAM software solutions. Its strong focus on
productivity and ease of use fits very well with Precitech’s product line,” comments Mike Tanniru,
Precitech’s Buisiness Director.
